The Clinton Community School District and Access Ability Wisconsin (AAW) are excited to announce a “trailblazing” partnership that promises to make the great outdoors more accessible for their students, teachers, and community members with mobility issues and their loved ones.
Clinton students are going to Upham Woods 6th Grade Camp for the 63rd Year. This year they are ensuring access to nature through use of AAW’s adaptive equipment & resources - Truly opening up possibilities! Together we aim to help empower individuals of all abilities to immerse and experience our natural world. AAW's fleet of 35 Outdoor Wheelchairs (OWCs) and enclosed multiple-sized outfitted trailers. These chairs, often fondly referred to as "hiking boots," are designed for all-terrain exploration. The OWCs allow users to explore outdoor spaces that were previously off-limits to traditional medical equipment (wheelchairs, canes, walkers, …).
AAW’s single chair and trailer are available for individuals to reserve. See www.AccessAbilityWI.org for details on how you or a loved one can become a member and reserve a chair and trailer for your adventures!
