If you are having trouble with your Chromebook please first try one of the following resources as they fix roughly 50-60% of student issues. Please note you can click the links for step by step instructions on how to complete these tasks. These tasks do not take more than a minute to perform.
1. Try to properly restart the Chromebook. This means logging out and fully shutting down the system and not holding down the power button.
2. Try clearing the history and Cache. Clear these separately for the best results.
3. Try checking your Chromebook for updates. Keeping the device up-to-date can be very important to ensuring everything is working properly. Devices are set to automatically update but sometimes it can take a few days after the release of an update for your device to update and if we really need a new feature or it hasn't been turned on in a while we may want to help it update a bit faster.
4. Try resetting your Chromebook to the factory default settings. Sometimes as we play with settings they can cause issues we did not anticipate. Resetting can resolve any issues like this.
For issues with Chromebook Audio or Audio issues with Google Meets please see the following documents to help.
It is also important to note that students should charge their Chromebooks every night before they go to sleep so the Chromebook is charged and ready for a full day of school. When a student does forget they can bring their device down to the Library and utilize a Charging Station where they leave the device charging for as long as they need to and pick it up between classes. Hotswaps (Temporary Loaner Devices) can be checked out to students who have forgotten to charge their device but can only do so if we have the inventory to do so. Students with a malfunctioning device take priority with Hotswap checkout over those who didn't charge their device. Students may also ask their classroom teacher if they can charge their device in the classroom if they bring their charger with them. Please also know that if your student checks out too many Hotswaps for not charging their device they will receive a disciplinary referral.
If your child is having an issue in which these steps could not resolve please have them go to their building Library Media Center and ask for help. The Library Managers will be happy to further assist your child with their device.
