Work Based Learning in the Clinton Community School District provides students with the opportunity to put knowledge learned within the classroom to practical use in an on the job work setting. An ever-increasing "skills gap" suggests that students graduating from school are not prepared to meet the demands of the 21st century workplace. The Work Based Learning program intends to address this gap by teaching students the critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and communication skills needed in order to be a better 21st century employee.
Program Objectives
To prepare the student for meaningful employment in a chosen occupational field which is aligned with the student's Academic Career Plan, ACP.
To aid in developing awareness of a student's individual occupational, personal, and educational goals.
To help students develop personal and social qualities which will enable them to make satisfying personal, occupational, and educational decisions.
To connect classroom educational experiences with occupational experiences beyond the traditional classroom.
To assist the student in developing work habits deemed desirable by future employers.
To develop a network of contacts connected to a student's chosen occupational field.
