There are plenty of other places around town and/or in the Rock County area that are always looking for volunteers as well. Feel free to reach out to other places. If you need the form to track your hours, please stop in the Student Services office or the main High School office. Don’t forget to turn your form into the counseling office once it’s completed!!!!

Always wanted to learn about horses? Want a way to earn free riding time and service learning hours? Serenity Horse Rescue Inc (in South Beloit) is looking for Volunteers! They have AM and PM shifts available, 7 days a week.
Free Training to learn how to safely feed all the horses. Volunteer training available Sat, Sun or evenings
upon Scheduling. Earn Credits toward free lessons and riding time in exchange for doing chores! You will be paired up with a knowledgeable horse person to learn about your chores and once you are
comfortable, you will be able to pick up your own shift(s).
Chores include:
- Checking Water
- Feeding 7+ horses their grain twice a day (Can be split into AM/PM shifts)
- Learning to halter and apply feed bags
- Check Hay levels
- Fill Hay Nets
- Basic Horse Grooming
- Checking and adjusting Blankets
- Picking up after the horses
- Cleaning Tack
- Basic Organization
- And More!!
- Willowick Assisted Living is looking for students to "adopt a grandparent". You can fulfill service learning hours by sending a smile and/or adopting a grandparent. If interested, please call Glitz & Go at (608) 313-8460.
- Cedar Crest is a senior living community on the south side of Janesville, WI. They have sent a list of volunteer needs in hopes that students want to give back locally and build skills over the summer. Attached is a list of current needs. Please contact Linda at 608-373-6327 to sign up.

- Ask your teachers if they have anything that you can help with
- Ask your local churches, food pantries, and businesses if they need volunteer help
- Mow yard/shovel driveway for neighbors, grandparents, etc.
- Pet-sitting / pet-walking
- Babysitting
What is Service Learning:
Required Service Learning Guidelines:
- Service work can be done anytime during a student's high school career, including the summer before freshman year but must be completed and submitted before May 1 of the students graduating year
- ???????Obtain Service Learning form from the high school office or online
- Choose a community service project (cannot be for your own family or paid)
- If there are any questions if the service project will count, check with the school counselor
- Complete the student request portion of the service learning form first
- ???????Obtain all the parent signature to grant permission
- Transportation and safety is the responsibility of the parent
- Perform the community service
- Have the project verified by getting the project supervisor's signature
- Write a brief summary of the project
- ???????Submit the completed Service Learning forms to the school counseling office in the same year service is completed for approval and documentation of hours, no exceptions
