All students in Wisconsin, regardless of where they live, should have the opportunity to earn some post-secondary credits while still in high school. The result will provide students, families and schools increased post secondary opportunities including: young people succeeding in college-level courses during high school, graduating high school college and career ready, increasing the number of students who go on to enroll and succeed in higher education, and reducing the total time to degree – saving students and families money.
High school students in the Clinton Community School District can currently earn college credit in a variety of ways, including Advanced Placement exams, the Early College Credit Program, Start College Now, and transcripted credit through the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).

The Student Instructional Leadership (SIL) program is designed to expand leadership opportunities to qualified seniors as they participate in a variety of activities associated with classroom instruction. Students in SIL partner with a mentor teacher in order to assist in the delivery of the curriculum.
Participants work in a classroom with a mentoring teacher 5 periods a week, assist in whatever curricular activities the teacher considers appropriate and keep a weekly journal of their experiences. Regular seminar meetings mentor teachers utilize discussion, readings about teaching and education, and a final self-assessment of the SIL experience to complement students’ in-class work.
Several seminar meetings will be held throughout the semester. Mentor teachers, SIL students, and the TAG coordinator will collaboratively determine the nature of the work and how the students’ learning will be assessed both in seminar and in the classroom. Students will receive .5 credit per semester for their service.
