Hello Cougar families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! These first two weeks have been a great start to the school year, and it has been wonderful to see our students settling into routines and getting back into the swing of things.

As we prepare for our first full five-day week, I want to remind families about the importance of reporting any student absence to the office as soon as possible. It is essential that parents/guardians call the office to excuse their student’s absence so that we know all of our students are safe and accounted for each day.

In coordination with the Business Office, Building Administration, and Food Service Department, the decision has been made to discontinue the before-school breakfast service period due to consistently low participation. 

Breakfast will continue to be available every school day after 2nd hour at its regularly scheduled time. All current breakfast offerings and menu options will remain the same. The only change is the discontinuation of the first of our two breakfast service periods.

Week two is in the books, and it has been another great week! Students are starting to establish a rhythm, and overall, things have been going very smoothly. It has been great to see our students getting into the routine and settling into the school year.

One thing we do want to continue to work on is being on time. We have had some students arriving late to school and some students getting to class late. With our school day starting at 8:00 a.m., it is important that students arrive at school with enough time to be ready for the day when the bell rings.   

We also want to remind students that each class period includes five minutes of passing time. Five minutes is plenty of time to get to your next class, use the restroom, grab what you need, and be in your seat ready to learn when the bell rings. Being on time isn't just a school expectation; punctuality is an important life skill that will follow our students into college, careers, and everyday life.

Please take a moment to remind your student about the importance of being at school on time and getting to each class on time. We appreciate your help and support with this!

The fall season is in full swing, and there is a lot happening across Clinton Cougar Athletics! As we head into the third week of September, come out and support our student-athletes, coaches, and teams. From the golf course and cross-country course to the volleyball court and football field, our Cougars are competing hard and representing Clinton with pride.

United in color, CJSH students and staff filled the hallways with a powerful wave of red, white, and blue to honor Patriot Day. This meaningful day of reflection allowed the entire school community to pause, show national pride, and express profound gratitude for the heroes and lives lost on 9/11.

Attention all members of the Class of 2027: please plan to attend our upcoming mandatory class meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd at 11:30 AM in the Aux Gym. This session will focus heavily on ordering your cap and gown and reviewing graduation requirements to ensure everyone is on track for senior year, covering the exact academic milestones you need to hit to walk across the stage. We will also be signing the class gown during this time!

CJSH is excited to announce that we officially have our own HOSA chapter! 

MISSION - The mission of HOSA is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global community through education, collaboration, and experience. 

PURPOSE - The purpose of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness, and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

GOALS - 

If you are interested in joining this organization, please sign up through Securly Flex to attend the HOSA informational meeting on Thursday, September 24th in room 315. Attending this meeting does not mean that you have to join! It is your opportunity to find out more about HOSA! 

Membership: Every student at CJSH is welcome to join FFA! FFA members need to complete a new membership form every year and pay $20 dues.  Dues should be placed in a labeled envelope and turned into Mrs. Kueter.  

September Chapter Meeting: Our September Chapter meeting will be Monday, September 21st at 6:30pm in the ag. classroom! Come to learn about our upcoming events, have fun, and eat delicious Texas Roadhouse rolls! 

Line Dancing: To gear up for homecoming, the Clinton FFA is hosting a fun line dancing class on the evening of September 23rd from 6:30pm to 8pm in the ag. shop.  All CJSH students grades 7-12 are welcome! We will provide light refreshments.   

Tractor Day: Our annual Tractor Day is Thursday, September 24th! All FFA members are welcome to Clinton Kitchen at 6:45am that morning to eat breakfast together! Clinton FFA members that have their driver's license or tractor safety certification can drive a tractor to breakfast then to school and share it with CES and Alden Meadow Park in the afternoon. Sign up & permission slips are in the ag. room! 

World Dairy Expo: All FFA members grade 9-12 are invited to attend World Dairy Expo at the Alliant Energy Center for a field trip on Tuesday, September 29th! As long as FFA membership dues are paid, there is no cost to attend. Sign up & permission slips are in the ag. classroom! 

Leadership Conference Opportunity: On November 12-13th we will be taking FFA members grade 9-12 to a leadership conference in Green Bay, WI.  (There will be an overnight leadership conference opportunity for grades 7-8 in the spring!) Students interested should sign up and grab a permission slip in the ag. room! Learn more here! 

Throughout the 2026-2027 school year, our Work-Based Learning Coordinator will lead Clinton Junior Senior High students on numerous career exploration field trips. These hands-on opportunities give 7th-12th grade students valuable insight into various industries and career pathways.

By completing this form and granting consent, your CJSH student(s) will not be required to submit individual permission slips for every Work-Based Learning career exploration trip they wish to attend this year.

If your student is interested in taking the PSAT during Fall 2026, please email Mrs. Kluge at kakluge@clintonwis.com to ensure they are registered for the exam.

The PSAT will be administered on a date to be determined between October 1 and October 30, 2026.

Please note that taking the PSAT is optional and is not a graduation requirement. There is an $18 testing fee, which is the responsibility of the student/family and is not covered by the district.
