At CMS, sixth graders learn skills to earn money caring for young children. Students learn skills to be a successful babysitter through leadership skills, discovering ways to be a positive role model, how their actions affect behavior in young children, and activities that enhance fine-motor skills. Fine motor skills involve paper, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, creativity, and textile skills hand sewing a baby doll and buttons. Students participate in interactive videos that are fun (and educational) to watch and problem solve with classmates. Seventh and eighth graders learn basic cooking and baking skills working in a kitchen group with other students and how these skills affect health and wellness. Textiles will be explored by making an apron for cooking.
