Book Olympics is a book reading competition where students form teams of 3-4 members from the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and read 25 books throughout the year as a team.
The Book Olympic competition takes place in late spring and involves head-to-head competition where teammates answer questions that always begin with, "In what book..." and can earn a bonus point by naming the author of said book.
The Competition tests each teams knowledge of the books they read from the story to the author and illustrator(s).
Junior Book Olympics is designed for 5th graders to begin the same type of competition on a smaller scale so they can gain an understanding of the competition and how it works. This creates more competitive equity for the Book Olympics program.
The Junior Book Olympians read 10 books throughout the year instead of 25.
